Summer Opening

"Summer Opening", Oil on Canvas, 4x5 feet, 2026. This is a large oil painting I finished over the course of several years that transformed a lot as it went. Ultimately it ended up being influenced by a few unusual things: The desire to paint in relation to one of my favorite artists, Bosch, and all the incredible diversity of plant like I waded through on the Pacific Northwest Trail in 2022. Lakes, plants, mountains, dead wood, glaciers, life, transformation... a lot goes on in the summer.
